Father’s Day Gift Ideas - Part IV

A little something for the father that’s a handyman. Most father’s who are handy already have tools, so no need to get them a Lowe’s or Home Depot gift card this Father’s Day. Instead opt for some items that’ll keep him looking fresh for years to come and will get better with age. Things that are worth holding on to.

Made in America, Our TCR Signature “Houston Cap” (Ebbets Field and Tanner Goods Collaboration) made exclusively for us features Ebbets’ classic wool crown and a leather adjustable strap by Tanner Goods. For and added vintage touch, the inside of the crown features a Tanner Goods leather sweatband, which was a common feature in vintage caps. This cap will not only keep your father looking fresh, but will look better with time.

Most father’s who are handy love them so Hanes t-shirts. This year opt for a more breathable tee that will withstand the test of time. Our Jungmaven Basic White Tees are made in America and are ultra-soft for superior comfort. Made of 60% hemp viscose and 40% organic cotton this lightweight fabric is perfect for the humidity down here.

Looking for the perfect pair of pants that are as tough as nails just like your father that he can beat up or dress up? Look no further, our Naked & Famous Duck Canvas Selvedge Pant is what you’re looking for. Lightweight…sturdy… ultra-durable, need i say more?!?

If your father’s like me, he’s got a buch of keys he lugs around. Grab a Tanner Goods Lanyard that’ll help keep him organized and that he can attach to his belt loop so he won’t always be frantically looking for his keys.

Lastly, grab a pair of PF Flyers that’ll compliment this outfit perfectly. Not only will PF Flyers help your father run faster and jump higher, but they’ll also provide the comfort he needs while he’s up on his feet all day working on or in the house.

Father’s Day Gift Ideas Part 1

How about you put some thought into your Father’s Day gifts this year? Let’s face it, without your Father you wouldn’t be here today…right? Forgive me for being so abrupt, but being a new father, I kind of take this day seriously. I mean when did ties, wallets and Home Depot gift cards become the norm? You take Mother’s Day seriously don’t you…then why not Father’s Day?!? Although you’d like to think most fathers are easy to shop for, the truth is we really aren’t. Don’t worry though, over the next 5 days we’ve put together a list of great gift ideas to cater to all different types of fathers. So sit back, relax and breathe a sigh of relief ’cause The Class Room has you covered for Father’s Day.

Let it be known I LOVE fishing, but don’t get it twisted you’ll never catch me rocking visors, wrap around sunglasses, cargo shorts and crocs. No disrespect to Academy Sports and Outdoors nor Bass Pro, but when did these items become the official sponsors of dad’s that love to fish? I get it, all those pockets in your cargo short are functional, crocs are comfortable and visors are err…no comment. What I don’t understand is often times fathers who love to fish wear the same type of clothing when they’re NOT fishing. Ernest Hemmingway was much more a fisherman than your father currently is (and probably will ever be) and I promise you he’d NEVER be caught dead wearing crocs or wraparound sunglasses.

This Father’s Day opt for this Hurly Striped T-shirt from Vanishing Elephant that pairs well with Gant Rugger’s Wheat Shorts. Not only will you look like a genius with this thoughtful gift(s), but you’ll  save your father the embarrassment this Father’s Day and allow him to keep any ounce of dignity he has left by opting for some clothes that’ll not allow him to look like this any longer.

Couldn’t have said it any better…

#LifeStyleClass - Flea by Night at Discovery Green

Once a month the southeast end of Discovery Green transforms into a mini-flea market for local artisans to show and sell their goods.  The market features an array of artful crafts, vintage furniture and other items, and locally produced foodstuffs.

Last Saturday was our first time checking it out, and it was a really good time.  As we walked up to the park the air was filled with some groovy tunes by a band playing on the main Budweiser stage.  I know “groovy” is a pretty lame term, but it’s the only way to describe the vibe as the band played what we believed to be rock covers from the 1960s. Nearing the actual Flea, another band was playing soulful Latin tunes on the smaller stage, and there were groups of people chilling on the grass enjoying the music.  The flea market had some really cool booths, and Paolo picked up an awesome letter stamp set from the 1930s(?).  I don’t know if that’s accurate, but the point is that it was old and cool.

I definitely recommend hitting up the Night Flea if you ever get a chance.  #SLGT - Support Local, Grow Together.

#LifeStyleClass: RAW Recap

Last Friday we hosted RAW at the shop.  While we could have just had a denim sale, we thought it would be more fun if we made a party of it.  Our friends Charlie and Tan are a couple of the sushi chefs that work at Uchi, probably the most hyped and popular Japanese restaurant in Houston (and deservedly so).  They were kind enough to come by on their day off and prepare some amazing rolls for us, which were served off Tequila Rose, our model for the night.  It wouldn’t be a TCR event without a few libations, and thanks to Gekkeikan we had 3 different types of sake to sample from.

Truth be told, I was pleasantly (and almost overwhelmingly) surprised at how big the turnout was.  We got to meet a lot of new faces, and we can’t thank everyone enough for coming out.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Tomorrow at the shop from 7:30 - 9:30 pm we’re hosting RAW, a unique raw denim sale and naked sushi event.  Save 15% off when you buy one pair of raw denim, 20% off when you buy two pairs, and 35% off when you buy 3 or more pairs.  We’ll also have complimentary sushi prepared on site by some of the best sushi chefs in the city, served on a [mostly] naked model.  Complimentary sake will be available tomorrow as well.
